Cheryl Tiegs Selling Show-Stopping Bel Air Home for $18.5M
The legendary model Cheryl Tiegs has placed her photogenic home back on the market for $18.5 million. To us, it’s a perfect 10.
The Balinese-inspired estate in the Bel Air area of Los Angeles first came up for sale in 2015 for $15 million. But without a buyer, it was eventually pulled from the market for a few years. Now it’s reappeared at a higher price point.
Understandably, Tiegs, who is now 71, must feel that the home is worth the increased asking price. It was built in the 1950s, but the cover model had it completely redone after she purchased the place for $2.49 million in 1996. Even after funding a complete home makeover, Tiegs stands to land a serious payday if she gets her asking price.
Tiegs hired the renowned designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard to create the resortlike estate, the Los Angeles Times noted. The result is a tranquil space situated on 1.43 acres in lower Bel Air.
Set on a promontory overlooking city views, the gated and private property with 4,770 square feet of living space is accessed by a long driveway, ending in a large motor court and three-car garage.
The double-door entry is flanked by a lush lily pond. A formal foyer opens onto a high-ceilinged great room. The open floor plan with intricate beams incorporates a living room, family room, den, and dining room. The layout also includes an office.
Walls of glass open out to outdoor living spaces and offer city views. The large chef’s kitchen, designed for Tiegs, who is a serious cook, comes with professional appliances and includes an oversized butcher-block island.
The spacious master suite includes a seating area, fireplace, and large, spalike bathroom and walk-in closet. In addition, there are three more bedrooms, each with custom decor.
Outside, the grounds are like a park and offer a grassy lawn, pool, fountains, and winding paths.
Tiegs has been called the first American supermodel. She came to early fame at the age of 17, when she appeared on the cover of Glamour, then subsequently covered Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue twice, as well as Time, Seventeen, Elle, Vogue, and Harper’s Bazaar, among others.
Jade Mills with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage holds the listing.
