If you’re anything like us, fall and spring feel like the best times of the year for cleaning house. Maybe it’s the transition of the seasons that inspires the change, or maybe we’re just preparing some extra space for Halloween candy and Christmas decorations.
If you need some inspiration to get started, though, look no further than the tastemakers on Instagram. As we do every week, we scrolled through hundreds of decor posts on IG to uncover the most liked looks, this time with a focus on the kitchen. What we found is that the most popular kitchen posts of the moment give off clean vibes and master that minimalist look.

If you like these designs as much as the internet does, we've got good news: We've tracked down some oh-so-chic items you can buy right now to steal the look—and give yourself more room to spread out. Read on to see how to replicate today's trending decor in your own kitchen.
Airy pendant lighting
Nothing gives your kitchen that open minimalist feel quite like glass pendant lighting.
“Traditionally, when a lot of us think 'kitchen', we think of space for function and utility,” explains interior designer Sarah Cousins. “Airy and delicate lights go against the grain and add a bit of elegance and whimsy.”
We can definitely feel the whimsy in this post by @hudsonvalleylighting, which features its magical Hagen pendants.

Neutral rollup shades
Preserve your kitchen’s open air feeling and natural light by investing in a set of neutral rollup shades—there when you need them, and tucked away when you don’t. It's easy to see this chic functionality in the kitchen posted by @1111lightlane.
“They are minimalistic, functional, and more easily cleaned compared to the typical rollers,” says Helena Brana, founder of BRANA designs. "You can also choose different materials by how much shade is needed; for me, I have different thicknesses in south- versus north-facing windows.”

#Whitekitchens might be a thing of the past, but something tells us that the elegant simplicity of off-white kitchens is starting to have its moment. Just check out the subtle green-gray tint of the off-white cabinets in this post by @vintagesouthdevelopment.
“Off-white cabinets are the perfect balance between classic and current,” says Catie Quanrud, owner of Speak Easy Interiors. “Ideally, the white should lean in the direction of your other finishes—countertops, backsplashes, walls, and so on.”

You can find the best off-white for your minimalist kitchen by shopping the collections at paint stores or in Home Depot.
“One of my favorite finishes for new cabinetry is Woodharbor’s 'Stonewashed' enamel paint, which is at once classic and personality-plus,” Quanrud says. “For refinishing existing cabinets, I gravitate towards Benjamin Moore’s 'Sail Cloth' for exactly the same reason.”
Wicker bar stools
“How do you make a classic kitchen warmer? Add texture,” Quanrud says. “That’s exactly why we love woven seating."
“Wicker bar stools bring the space a freshness, warmth, and comfort—whether in classic, modern, beachy, or contemporary-styled kitchens,” Brana points out.

If you’re trying to embody the true spirit of a minimalist, then every item in your home should have more than one purpose. Enter the cutting board: part-time prep surface and part-time design platform—at least, that’s what @finding__lovely seems to have pulled off in her recent kitchen post.
“Kitchen designers know one thing about staging: Make it look lived in,” Quanrud says. “With all their hard surfaces, kitchens can look cold and lifeless, but introducing anything organic in shape, texture, or color— like a beautiful cutting board, an open cookbook, or a flower arrangement—can make all the difference.”
